NEVER skip MONDAY.

You can either hate Mondays because you don't want the weekend to end and you're dreading that pile of work on your desk, or you can love them because they signify a NEW week and a FRESH START.  Whichever way you look at it, Monday is the best day to hit the gym! I know how easy it is to hit that snooze button, but trust me, that 10 minutes of sleepy bliss is nothing compared to how you will feel after you crush it at the gym.

Here are the Top 5 reasons to workout every Monday!

  1. It's a new day! Monday is a fresh start, akin to a mini New Year’s Day. People tend to indulge in less healthy behaviors on the weekend, so Monday can serve as a ‘health reset’ to get back on track with their health regimens.   What you choose to do with your Monday sets the MOMENTUM for the week.  You'll have more motivation to workout Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday....if you get the ball rolling in the right direction on Monday.
  2. Do the Sunday night blues and a case of the Mondays tend to get the best of you?  Monday workouts can help make you HAPPY!  Exercise is one of the most important and healthy ways you can increase your body's production of both serotonin and endorphins.  Serotonin is a chemical found in the human body that helps to maintain mood balance while endorphins trigger a positive feeling in the body.  Might as well start the week healthy and happy!
  3. I confess, weekends can lead to a bit of over-indulgence and being over-served, if you know what I mean.  Don't go through your day beating yourself up for the 7 glasses of wine you had on Saturday night and the basket of french fries you ate on Sunday. Schedule an intense workout for Monday and sweat that shit right out!
  4. Exercise can boost your brainpower (and who doesn't need that on a Monday?) Physical exercise has the potential to increase levels of BDNF (brain-derived neurotropic factor), which is shown to help build healthier nerve cells.  This can lead to improved memory and the ability to learn new concepts faster.
  5. Struggling to fall asleep? Or to stay asleep? Regular physical activity can help you fall asleep faster and deepen your sleep.  So don't worry about missing that extra hour of sleep in the morning.  Over the long run, an ongoing commitment to exercise will have you sleeping better than ever.

So let's do this! Scheduling your Monday workout is a great habit to get into and one of the best decisions you can make for your body and mind.  And if you start your week with one good decision, chances are it will lead to many more. Win-win!

And always remember the goal: STRONG not SKINNY!
